Sze Fei-Izzuddin rally past fatigue to clear opening hurdle in Jakarta

Men's doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani continue their gruelling schedule by cruising into the second round of the Indonesia Open on Tuesday.

The world No. 8 dispatched Singapore's world No. 41 Wesley Koh-Junsuke Kubo in the first round 21-17, 21-16 at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta.

This is their fourth straight tournament on their Southeast Asia tour, which began with a semi-final run at the Thailand Open last month.

They then finished as runners-up at the Malaysia Masters two weeks ago and reached the quarter-finals at the Singapore Open last week.

They will face either Japan's Takumi Nomura-Yuichi Shimogami or England's Ben Lane-Sean Vendy in the second round on Thursday.

The South Korean-Malaysian pairing of Choi Sol Gyu-Goh V Shen will not be joining Sze Fei-Izzuddin in the second round.

The world No. 38 fell to France's world No. 22 Christo and Toma Junior Popov 21-18, 21-15 in 31 minutes.
