Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) seized several pieces of photography equipment as it intensified its crackdown against "photo touts" during an integrated operation at several locations here recently.
During the operation, codenamed Op Lens, which was carried out with the police, Immigration Department, and National Registration Department on Monday, DBKL also issued four compounds and notices requiring two individuals to appear in court.
The integrated operation targeted unlicensed photography services operating in public areas, including the Saloma Bridge and Persiaran KLCC.
"The enforcement action was taken to curb the ongoing illegal activity, which poses safety risks and causes nuisance to visitors, including obstruction and disruption of traffic flow," it said in a statement on its Facebook page today.
The council added that all seized items were taken to DBKL's confiscation store for documentation and record purposes.
DBKL said enforcement operations will continue from time to time to ensure public areas remain safe and free from illegal photography services.
