Rohingya man caught driving without licence in RTD operation

A 32-year-old Rohingya man was arrested after he was caught driving a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) without a valid licence during a Kedah Road Transport Department (RTD) enforcement operation last night.
Kedah RTD director Stien Van Lutam said the suspect, who works as a construction worker and also operates a grocery store, was detained at about 11pm during Ops PeWa, following public complaints and intelligence gathered by the department.
"The vehicle is believed to have been purchased from a local, who will also face legal action.
"We have issued a summons and seized the vehicle for further investigation, while the registered owner will also be charged in court," he said today.
Stien said the suspect told investigators he was on his way home after closing his grocery store when he was stopped by enforcement officers.
