It was double heartbreak for Malaysia as men's pair Aaron Chia and Aaron Tai's giant-killing run came to an end in the final, leaving the Taiwan Open without a title on Sunday.
The 'Aarons', playing in only their second tournament together, found their match in Indonesia's world No. 78 pair Leo Rolly Carnando-Daniel Marthin and fell 23-21, 21-19 in the Super 300 event in Taipei.
Earlier, women's world No. 5 pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah also fell at the final hurdle after losing to Japan's world No. 71 pair Sumire Nakade-Miyu Takahashi in straight games.
Despite the defeat, the Aarons can take heart from their fairytale run to the final after crashing out in the first round of the Super 1000 China Open last week.
As for Leo Rolly-Daniel, it was their second title of the year after winning the Super 500 Thailand Open in May.
