DAP tells election machinery to prepare for snap polls in three states

DAP has directed its party machinery to prepare for the possibility of snap elections in Negri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor.
Its secretary-general Anthony Loke said the decision followed deliberations on the potential dissolution of the respective state legislative assemblies in the near future.
The decision was reached during the DAP central executive committee monthly meeting held at the party's headquarters here last night.
"The meeting discussed the latest political developments in Negri Sembilan and decided on five matters, including directing all party machinery to prepare for possible snap elections in these three states," Loke said in a statement today.
Loke said DAP remains firm in its stance not to support any proposal to replace the current menteri besar, following a failed attempt to topple the existing state administration.
"DAP will continue to provide full support to Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun as the Negri Sembilan menteri besar.
"We always respect and uphold the institution of the constitutional monarchy. All issues involving the royal institution and Adat Pepatih must be resolved with full respect and decorum, in accordance with the Federal Constitution and the state constitution," he said.
Loke also expressed the party's gratitude to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, following the ruler's decree that the state government should continue to function as usual under Aminuddin's administration.
